Lawrence Iason represents individual and corporate clients in investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the New York Stock Exchange, and the National Association of Securities Dealers. He also represents clients in criminal and civil trials and arbitrations.
Mr. Iason received a J.D. cum laude from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and an editor of the Law Review. After clerking for the Honorable Clement F. Haynsworth, Jr., Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, he served as an Assistant Special Prosecutor in the Watergate Special Prosecution Force and later as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He entered private practice in 1979, became a principal at a predecessor to Morvillo Abramowitz in 1985, left to head the New York office of the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1988, and returned to Morvillo Abramowitz in 1991.
Mr. Iason is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the New York City, New York State and American Bar Associations, the Federal Bar Council, and the New York Council of Defense Lawyers. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, New York Magazine – The New York Area’s Best Lawyers, and New York Super Lawyers – Manhattan Edition.
He is admitted in New York and Virginia and to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, and Tenth Circuits, and the District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Eastern District of Virginia.
