On Thursday, August 2, 2012, Morvillo Abramowitz Partner Jeremy Temkin appeared on MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell in a segment discussing Mitt Romney's recent refusal to release past income tax returns. Temkin explained that many people participated in the IRS's Voluntary Disclosure Program both to protect themselves against possible criminal prosecution and to get certainty regarding their status. The failure to report an offshore account is not always a felony but rather it depends on whether the accountholder knew he was obligated to disclose the account.
