Staying In Bounds: College Athletics Pose Compliance Hurdles

College athletics is big business, accounting for billions of dollars of revenues to the NCAA and its member institutions each year. As with other business organizations, the enormous profits generated through athletic programs creates pressure to win and, with it, conduct that is inconsistent with the institutional mission of colleges and universities.
