Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason and Anello PC partner Elkan Abramowitz will participate as a speaker on the International Bar Association Human Rights Law Committee’s webinar, Rights of the Accused (Part Three) – Sentencing: Fairness, Justice and Criminal Punishment.
The program, presented in conjunction with Human Rights Watch in Tokyo, examines criminal sentencing and the principles of fairness and equity, with a comparative discussion of sentencing practices in the United States, Australia, and Japan.
Elkan will join an international panel of speakers that included Professor Thalia Anthony of the University of Technology Sydney, Professor Daniel Foote of the University of Tokyo, and Professor Mari Hirayama of Hakuoh University in Japan. The discussion will be moderated by Jonathan Hafetz of Seton Hall Law School and Kanae Doi of Human Rights Watch in Tokyo.
