Off-Label Marketing of Drugs & Devices:
Recent Enforcement Efforts, Hot Topics and More
with the Health Law Committee
Friday January 21, 2011
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
In the last several years, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Food and Drug Administration, and other federal and state agencies have aggressively pursued criminal and civil cases
against drug and device manufacturers that have promoted their products for medical uses not approved by the FDA. The size and scope of these cases have increased over time; since 2007 alone the Department of Justice has secured criminal and civil penalties
totaling more than $6 billion, and individual members of corporate management, lower-level employees, and even physicians are increasingly finding themselves the subjects of government scrutiny. At this program a distinguished faculty of government attorneys,
outside counsel for drug and device manufacturers, and counsel involved in representing individual subjects of government investigations will provide crucial insight into recent cases and cutting-edge developments.
