Criminal investigations and prosecutions have now become a regular part of our political life. One manifestation is the frequency of false statement charges under 18 U.S.C. § 1001. In his article for the New York Law Journal’s White Collar Crime Report, “What Recent Special Counsel Prosecutions Can Tell Us About False Statements Prosecutions,” Jonathan S.
